Multiple Sclerosis – Why it is no longer the end of the patient’s dreams

Joela Matthews MRPharmS MFRPSII is Lead for the Neurosciences Team at Barts Health NHS Trust.  She is a highly specialised clinical pharmacist and is a member of the UK CPA and founding member of the Neuropharmacists Steering Group.  Joela has presented a variety of talks at a number of meetings and has worked with local and national Commissioners to apply for funding for high cost medications.

At the end of her talk, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the clinical features of multiple sclerosis
  2. Discuss the management of specific impairments and disabilities arising in multiple sclerosis (MS)
  3. Describe the role of disease modifying drugs, symptomatic treatments and therapies for MS
  4. Outline the disease modifying drugs that are currently in phase 3 trials and their place in therapy

Car Parking at the hospital – Entrance 4 is to the South side of the Hospital in Wexham Park Lane (marked psychiatry and maternity) off Church Lane.

Please note that the car park in front of the Postgraduate Centre has been dug up! The new parking instructions are to turn into Entrance 4 as before and then turn left into the pay and display car park on the left. The parking is £3.50 for 2 hours and £5.50 for 3 hours, exact money needed. From the entrance to the car park, walk across the road and you will see the Postgraduate Centre a few metres ahead and on the right.
