Tackling antimicrobial resistance using point of care testing

30th October 2017 19:00

John Lister Postgraduate Centre, , Wexham Park Hospital (Entrace 4), Slough, SL3 6LY

The LPF will be welcoming Dr Maria Kapi who will be sharing her expert knowledge in this area.  The Cobas Liat Analyzer is a next-generation PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technology for on-demand testing in point of care settings. It is a benchtop analyser which removes DNA from patient samples to identify causes of infectious diseases. It is fully-automated, requires minimal training and hands-on time and produces a test result within 30 minutes. Her biography is shown below.

This meeting is open to non-members if they email Jane Nicholson advising that they wish to attend (jane@nicholj.plus.com) and indicating whether they would like refreshments. Non-members may attend for free! For those people who will be arriving by car, car parking at the hospital can be found via Entrance 4.  This is to the south side of the Hospital in Wexham Park Lane (marked Psychiatry and Maternity), just off Church Lane.

Please note that the car park in front of the Postgraduate Centre has been dug up! The new parking instructions are to turn into Entrance 4 as before and then turn left into the pay and display car park on the left. The parking is £3.50 for 2 hours and £5.50 for 3 hours, exact money needed. From the entrance to the car park, walk across the road and you will see the Postgraduate Centre a few metres ahead and on the right.

This event is being fully funded by the Thames Valley LPF.
